Carpet stains and solutions

Here's my issue.

My carpet is about 5 years old and is admittedly not the highest grade, but not the lowest, either.

We clean our carpets ourselves twice a year but the same (and new) spots keep showing up and never seem to go away.

These spots are not serious stains like juice or blood. I think they are likely drips from sippy cups or just dirty feet.

Any ideas of how or what to use to clean away these spots for good? Or better yet, anyone want to make a donation towards some new carpet:)?

It's very likely the pad underneath is stained. The stains seem to "rise" out of the pad. We have the same problem. You could hire a professional to do serious deep cleaning and spot removal, but I suspect the spots will come back.

Your best bet is new carpet or hardwood. Sorry.

OxyClean and dishwashing soap.

Or try hydrogen peroxide. It is supposed to be the same as using OxyClean but I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet.

I was going to say hydrogen peroxide, I see that t with honey beat me to it!

Unfortunately, I have no carpet solutions because we have hardwood floors. But, I wanted to pop by and thank you for coming to my blog and commenting on what to do with all the art work. I loved your art gallery idea!

Good luck with the carpet!

I have the same issues... professional cleaning gets them up for a long time... it has been probably a year or a year and a half and they've just this past week returned.

Thanks for your email. I love you so!

I don't have an answer to this. I am here because of the comment you left at Still His Girl. I wanted you to know that the Psalm you shared with her was wonderful and cheered me up today.

I have the same issue. I know for us it's sippy cup or juice drips from our toddler - and dirty feet also from us and our dogs. I always use oxiclean and they always come out.

Thanks for your comment on my blog! I am going to browse yours this afternoon.

Our carpet turned six Sept. 1. It gets a Bissell-ing about every three months. I use an enzyme based cleaner that I got from a friend for a pre-treater, and use an allergy formula made for Bissell.

I'm planning to do our carpets next week. Our machine is with a friend right now.

I bought the Bissell at Costco. It was around $150-200 (I think) and I have found it worth it. I do mine 3-4 times a year, like I said, and a couple of friends homes 1-2 times a year, and haven't had any trouble with it. It's about four years old.
