I came home from work this evening thinking about how the extra call pay will help to knock off the van loan a little sooner.
I opened to mail to find this bill. $1402.52!!!!
I nearly choked on my $.50 Rice-a-Roni Alfredo noodles and leftover chicken!! All I could picture was a pipe burst under the foundation pouring out Niagara Falls into which our house would quickly be swept away.
I was more than relieved to learn that our new meter man had entered an 8 instead of 800. Whew!!

Wow! What a terrible mistake they made! You would think there would be some sort of check in place to screen for mistakes this huge before they send them out to give people heart attacks!
I'm glad it ended happily anyway...

wow -- that would be scary. My poor in-laws acutally had something like that happen once -- a burst pipe that they didn't know about. I think they still ended up having to pay 1/2 even though they appealed and it was a bigger bill than you received! Ugh!!!!
Whew! What a relief!
i'm honored that you want to bug me every day. i'm so happy in my new home!!!!

Oh my goodness! I would have passed out. I'm glad you got it resolved!
You shouldn't have called them! It appears that you have a $1300 CREDIT! Look at the negative sign next to the amount; just like your payment received. And it says "do not pay" because the amount is negative. You wouldn't have had to pay for water for quite a long time.
But I'm sure you would have called them anyway because you're honest. :)
Yikes! Thank the Lord is was a mistake. That happened to my mother-in-law once and it wasn't. Seems a young lady she allowed to live in her house while she was away left a toilet running for a month. Hadn't she heard of wiggling the handle?
I second the refund - looks like they were trying to give you money :D
