Theology

I've been reading through an Usborne book with Joseph at bedtime. This one is about the earth and space (of course). The book was talking about the mountains being formed over a period of millions of years and we were talking about our Creator God who spoke the mountains into existence. Joseph's eyes got bigger and bigger as the conversation went on.

"Mom, God does not have a mom."

"You're right. Why do you say that?"

"Because God doesn't need any help. He doesn't have a mom. He can do whatever he wants."
*sigh* "Who made God then?"

"No one made God. He is eternal. He has always been and will always be."

"Oh, yeah." pause. "Did you know God can walk on water? He does not splash and play. He just walks on the top. Goodnight, mom."

"Good night, son."

Love it! There is nothing that melts my heart more than preschool theology. My lil guys were arguing over whether Jesus knew everything or not. One said yes, because He was God, the other said no. Had me stumped. I sided with child number one and child number two burst into tears (first child perfectionist, hates to be disagreed with) and said that Jesus did *not* know everything, because he didn't know the day of His return. Whoah.

What a sweet moment!

Share more about the Ephesians 6 memory work. What song was it? Something you all wrote or learned from a cd? Sounds great!

My kids have asked the same thing - who is God's mom? And then, who were the first people? Who were their kids? Are they still alive? Ahhh, the questions from a child!!!

It is amazing to witness our children's attempts at understanding God. He doesn't have a mom because he doesn't need any help? Precious. And he will grow out of the "He can do whatever He wants" thinking. Someday. When he is 30 or so...
