Score!

I don't know if everyone in this town is on the bargain hunt or if the the Kroger man has just been stockpiling the Manager's specials. I've been stalking the clearance table for several weeks, but to no avail.

Friday, I went expecting nothing and walked away with all these goodies for our pantry: 11 boxes of snack crackers, 7 pounds of ground beef, several cans of refried beans, black beans.... Altogether about $51.oo was spent and and $62.00 saved.

Continuing to bargain hunt for the girls' bedroom make-overthis week, I bought this beautiful coverlet and iron curtain tie-backs for a grand total of $11.15. The original price would have been over $55 combined.

I stopped by the local paint store to ask about paint that they have returned due to color mistakes. The nice lady took me to the back room, gave me a screwdriver and a hammer and left me there to discover what they had. The colors were beautiful, but not quite what we need. They sell these paints for $2.50 a gallon. I'll definitely be going back until I find what we need.
It certainly never hurts to ask.

Great Job on your score! It's fun, isn't it? I linked to your blog from Money Saving Mom and spent some time looking at your other posts. It sounds like you have a great family and I'll be back to visit.

What a great idea about the returned paint! I've often wondered what places do with stuff like that.

Yay! Doesn't a trip like that make you want to do the happy dance all day long?

We painted our youngest son's room and our bedroom with returned paint colors. When I didn't find just the right colors, I put a glaze over one the one for my son's room and used a wooly roller to blend a color that looked like calamine lotion and a brick red in our room. It came out a great terra cotta swirl.

I am amazed at the deals you find, Monica! :) It's interesting on the color choice for the girls' room...I recall Lydia liking Kyleigh's room when we had her over. Kyleigh had decided that she wanted her room to look more "grown up" and had picked out blue and brown. Popular colors, huh?! :)

wow - you rock, I have no idea how you do it!! Maybe one of these days I'll be able to find the time to do more than clip coupons and scan ads. I need to take some lessons!

I haven't been able to get good deals at Kroger lately either. I glad that this trip worked out for you! I was going to go on Friday, but then something came up!

I am interested to know where you went for the paint.

Just a thought on your paint needs. My DH is a part time painter in the summer. When he's done he takes the leftovers to the recycling center/hazardous waste facility. He also picks up other people's cast offs for FREE! Check your yellow pages for your recycling center. You never know!

Lowes and Home Depot have a section of mis-tints. They are $1-$2 a gallon at Lowes!
