Seriously?

American Girls... what are they coming to?

Just what every doll needs- a raccoon in a trash can for a mere $28. I could set my trash can out in the yard with the lid off and get a live raccoon for free.

Or how about a plastic taco picnic. That would only set you back $36 or it could purchase some real people some much needed real food.

Every set of doll twins needs a double jobbing stroller. Forget that the same amount of money could buy a real baby a car seat.

Thankfully there's now a solution for those crooked doll teeth. Orthodontia. She never complains about wearing head gear at a sleepover and she certainly doesn't "accidentally" throw away her retainer in the cafeteria.

Life happens. That sums it up right there.

I can't get over those dolls. I am pretty sure my girls will never have one because I will be on edge all of the time about keeping them perfect. That is what you get with an OCD mom who doesn't like to spend money on toys! ;)

I know! I felt the same way when I saw that catalog - the headgear is what put me over the edge.

Monica-what a hoot! We entered the American Girl doll arena with a knock-off doll from Target last year. Sophie absolutely loves her, so I thought we were in the clear until an adult in our life (one without kids, of course) clued her in to the "real thing," and even let her know all about the big store in Chicago (gee, thanks). She occasionally mentions getting a "real" doll, but then I remind her that for that price, all she might ever get is the doll (from an overindulgent grandparent), or she can have her "knock-off" doll and a ton of accessories to go along with her for the exact same price! Ugh!

Oh Monica, this is too funny. I love the raccoon comment. Actually, everything made me laugh!

I just could NOT do it, even it I had the money. Not when I know that a 50cent yardsale find will please them just as much and get the same amount of attention (which is tons and tons for a few days or even weeks....until the next thrilling toy comes along).
Goodness....

I think those dolls are an incredible rip off! I hope my daughter never finds out about those. You're right, I can buy a REAL car seat for a mom in need or a taco dinner for an entire neighborhood for those prices!
