No Spend Challenge- Days 10-14

We're halfway through our no spend challenge for the month. There is something wonderful that happens when you know that you could have something, but you are willing to wait for ir or at least willing to admit that you really don't need it. Suddenly, what you already have becomes sufficient. Then slowly your eyes are opened to God's provision and there is renewed joy in knowing that your daily bread is perfect for your daily needs. Even the opportunity for extra work is a gift.

Sean and I have learned this lesson again and again throughout our marriage. We are excited for our children to learn it, too. Earlier this week the girls were wanting to go shopping for some Spring clothes, particularly for some church attire and hair accessories. A few days later Sean walked in with a bag full of things from a student's family. What was inside? The exact items that the girls had desired. No, I don't believe God is Santa Clause hearing our wishes and granting them because we are somehow good. But he is a loving Father who delights to be glorified in our lives, even if it's through a few hoodies and a headband.

How have you known God's provision for your family this week? Please share.

I love to hear how God provides because I've seen it over and over again -- especially as a child. I'm so happy for your girls!

AMEN Monica. We have had the same sort of things happen for us - God providing over and over again the things on our "list" we were waiting to buy.

Such a blessing for your children to see that He delights to provide!

How awesome is that! This is one of the reasons that I don't "shop" anymore (at least without a purpose) like I did when I was young. I am always more satisfied with what I already have when I am not eyeballing tons of things I don't. Keep it up!

Great story of God's faithfulness! Thanks for sharing. For me, this past week, God showed his provision to me in many little ways....that when you add them all up it's just amazing!!! I had that nasty cold-thing to deal with, Sean was out of town, and there were many things I needed to accomplish that I had no idea how it could be done....But God! He provided me with an extra measure of patience with my kids, some much needed time with my extended family, and some rest. And....I pulled out our box of shoes from the 'dungeon' and found pairs of shoes for younger three boys! Bonus!!!!

The No Spend Challenge your family is doing has been very encouraging to Steve and I. We've been rigorously going over our budget, and maybe we should try this.
